Getting Ready for Xmas

We spent the weekend doing small projects (my mom will be happy to hear that the dog kennel is OUT of our room and the changing table is out of Conner's room) and getting the house ready for christmas. This entailed taking down the halloween lights (we were kept from doing this before due to Conner's love for the "pumpkins!!") and putting up all the xmas lights we could find AND going out to buy a tree and decorating it. I was decidedly anti-tinsel this year - tried several variations that I found in our stuff and didn't like any of it. So we're sticking with lights and ornaments - anything breakable obviously hanging near the top. Here are some fun pics:

First is Conner - he likes the way the pine needles tickle his tummy!

Next is Dan performing the annual Christmas ritual - why don't these damn lights work???

Night before Thanksgiving

Conner learned a new word today from one of his teachers - she was doing something and said "Sweet", so of course Conner ran around yelling "sweet! sweet! sweet!" Now when he says it, he sounds like Cartman - "Sweeeet". He's also got "Turkey day" and "gobble gobble". Yes, we are raising a genius.... don't believe me? See that picture? He's reading to the dog!

Conner's Day

We had some sad news today - Conner's first girlfriend, Layla, is leaving his daycare. Today was her last day. She's going to stay home with her grandmother. I don't think Conner realizes she isn't coming back - hopefully she comes to visit.

Conner got new PJ's - they are VERY cute, picture above. Also one of him running from Grandpa...."you can't catch me"!

First Post

This is the initial posting from the cookie queen. I'm a clinic manager for a large healthcare organization, but deep down, I want to start a cookie company with a friend. Since my husband and I have a son and my husband's union has crappy benefits, I have to be the responsible one and have a job with health and dental. But someday......

My parents bought a house in Arizona last year and they decided to go early this year. They arrived today and I thought it would be nice to start a blog so they could see new pictures of their grandson (Conner) on a regular basis.

On a political note, I was listening to Ring of Fire on Air America this evening - usually, I enjoy listening to Air America, but tonight I was slightly irritated by a comment they made regarding thimerisol. It's a preservative used in immunizations and the comment was related to it causing long-term damage to kids. I work with pediatricians and there have been no studies that prove this preservative causes autism. Now I'm about as liberal as you can get, but it irritates me when people make claims that are not backed by science.

The picture below is from a trip to the Dells with our friends. Conner was obviously VERY tired and we are obviously VERY bad parents to mess with our child in this way. Oh well, he can talk about it with his auntie Jen the therapist someday.
